Internship Project

My work as a youth voice community partner, allows me to zero in on the active and authentic role youth have in the organizations working for us. Going into this internship I was excited to use this lens in order to collaborate with Think360 in adapting a stronger student evaluation after the artist residencies.

The creative process behind this project involved a lot of communication, and small discussion with the team in order to focus on where we could best involve student voice with the valuable work they already do. From the rich discussion, I was able to dive into the organization’s structure and collaborate with the team to seek student voice, in an innovative, personalized, and practical way. In hitting all of these targets, it was crucial to infuse my own creative approaches into the plan.

Success for this project is a long term outcome. For the brief duration of my time as an intern I was not able to help instill this project as a sustainable practice within the organization, however it is the time and energy I did invest which will leave a mark on scope and direction of student voice at Think 360 for the long term.

Through the development of this project I learned about the multifaceted approach that must be taken while considering an addition to a well running organization. The team is really good at staying connected to all parts of what goes on in the programming, as there is only 5 people maintaining the thriving state wide program. This connection as an intern also came in handy, as it allowed me to realize that in such a strategic environment, in order to involve an extra evaluation, it has to be crafted and rolled out strategically with time.
